Large and very effective

These are a good size and exhibit, very noticeable absorbency for sound, and are thick enough with sufficient density to help with reflection of bass sound waves in the corners of the room. They are not too heavy, so that a good quality spray adhesive will attach them so long as you use the attachment both to the wall and the ceiling. They are large enough to where they can actually be used in a pinch to surround a microphone and provide adequate sound shielding.

give them a few weeks to take shape.

I initially gave these 3 stars because after 1 week of decompressing they did not appear to be cut the same. Now that it's been over a month they are identical so I am updating this review. If you get these just make sure to really let them breath for a few weeks before you set them up and they should stack perfectly on each other to make a nice and tall corner bass trap.Personally I did not have any problems with mine staying we but I live in a hot climate, if you don't live in a hot climate just let them take shape on their own.

A brief study of acoustic panels

I've been testing various kinds of sound proofing for my small home studio. My test included this product. In testing I used a Real Time Frequency analyzer along with an RTA microphone and a pink noise generator. I've tested various products that included this one so this will be a review of the various types of panels and which ones were the most effective.First thing to know is that while you can typically dampen sound with walls panels being able to say you have "sound proofed" them is a stretch. NONE of the products I've tested will completely sound proof a room. To truly sound proof a room requires more than just adding certain kinds of acoustic treatment to your walls. Sound proofing begins with how the wall it actually built and acoustic panels are a part of the entire package that it takes to sound proof a room. What acoustic panels WILL do for you is dampen sound with different types of panels doing a better job at different frequencies. This review will describe in general how well different panels perform and which characteristics indicate better performance. So, I've tested multiple types of panels and the ones that perform the best have several things on common. First off the better performing panels are ones that are thicker. In fact, for overall sound dampening the thicker the better. I tested panels that were anywhere from 1/8 inch think up to several inches thick and thicker was always better across all frequencies.

Good For Minor Bass Treatment

These bass traps look nice and they are easy to set up. I have been working in recording studios for decades and I know how expensive sound treatment can be. You get two bass traps that are dense and do help remove some bass rumble, but if you have a large amount of bass frequencies to deal with you will need much more than what these provide. If you have a small project studio or if you can't do much to alter your room these can be a good option.

The traps are constructed well and should provide some treatment but will not drastically alter your room's sound. I do feel they are a good value for the treatment they provide; just don't expect them to solve major bass issues.

Effective, but inconvenient soaking required

As a professional narrator moving into a new home studio, I was aware how important use of bass traps would be. These seem to work well, but initial setup was quite a pain. These come vacuum packed, and the "inflation" procedure involves soaking them in water for 10 minutes, then letting them dry. I managed to fit one at a time into my kitchen sink, and they ended up going to the basement for final drying, which took days. It's very difficult to wring the water out of these, but it was worth the hassle.
